Shared vs Private Camera Networks
When you view your camera networks, you’ll see that you can filter by "Shared Networks," "Shared with Me," and "Private Networks."
- Shared Networks can be joined by other ALI organizations. Other organizations can see that the network exists, but can't view any information in your network until you approve their request to join.
- Private Networks are only visible to your organization and cannot be joined by any outside organizations.
- "Shared with me" Networks are outside networks that your organization has joined. Once another organization approves your request to join, you can view and search license plates from their cameras.
Why would you want to make your network shareable?
If you work closely with nearby organizations, it might be helpful to share networks in order to cross-reference alerts and track vehicles as they move through districts.
Once you allow another organization to join your camera network, they will be able to view and search license plates from your camera.
Additionally, if you have any items on your hot list that are captured by a shared network, your organization will receive an alert.
Joining an outside network
If you're an Admin, you can search for networks and send requests to join them if you see there are networks in an area that would be helpful to your organization.
To join another organization's shared network, go to the camera networks tab and click “Request Access.”
You can filter by state to find other camera networks. When you hover over the network name, click the blue “Request Access” button that appears.
The administrator of the network will receive your request and decide whether or not to approve you.
Sharing your camera networks
As Admin, you can also decide whether or not to allow other organizations to access your cameras.
You can view and approve pending requests at the "Pending/Sent network requests" on the main Cameras page.
Alternatively, you can approve these requests in your notifications tab.
